8.5.17 will always be my favorite day. It was a day of of peace, happiness, and joy. I had known that I was supposed to marry Tyler, but never had I felt such peace and surety about any decision I had ever made. I walked into the temple, saw him standing there, and thought, "Wow. God really does want me to marry him."
The Sealing: The sealing was perfect. I originally chose the Oquirrh Mountain temple because I went about 3 years ago and had an amazing experience. Tyler said, "Perfect, I know someone that could seal us there." It turned out to be Tyler's old stake president. We had no idea he was the Temple President, and he was so nice to come in and marry us on his day off. Not that we are supposed to compare sealings or anything, but mine was one of the best I have ever witnessed. His advice and counsel was exactly what I needed. I couldn't stop smiling at Tyler. Again, I felt the spirit so strongly that I was exactly where I needed to be. I am so thankful for the covenant that we made.
Apparently, taking pictures outside the temple were super hot. If it was, I couldn't feel the heat. I was honestly so touched that so many people came to support us, and I really could not stop smiling because I was so happy. It was such a beautiful day, and no amount of heat could make it any less beautiful.
The Reception: Tyler and I made sure we had no down time. We had our sealing at 3 and our reception at 6:30. It was kind of rushed, and I would've done the sealing at 2 or 2:30. Even though it was a little rushed, I would recommend doing a later sealing to anyone. The reception was so perfect. The Gardens at Dry Creak, is a hidden gem that no one knows about. McKenzie found it for us (she planned and decorated a lot of our wedding). They have the best wedding packages by far and it is soooo beautiful. They run the whole thing for you, and Suzie makes sure everything happens when it is supposed to (We love Suzie). They also have amazing food (not that I had any). Honestly, we couldn't have found a better spot.
When I pictured my wedding reception, I pictured a party with my closest friends and family. It was that. :) Matt sang during the first part of the reception, and he did amazing. He really helped set the mood that we wanted. We originally had a line, but I left Tyler in it by himself. haha It ended up being a lot more carefree that way, and we both got to talk to everyone. We had the Photo Booth Bus, games, and lots of friends. The place was beautiful, and everything was perfect.
The Parent Dance: Two weeks before the wedding, Tyler asked me to help pick out a song for our parent dance. He sent me a list of songs, and one of them reminded me of my Grandma. I then thought, “Why not use one of her songs?” After she died, my grandpa made CDs of songs she had recorded for all of his children and grandchildren. Tyler and I listened to a few of her CDs and picked one song out. My grandpa had no idea we were going to play one of her songs. On the day of the wedding, he was really missing my grandma. The next day was their anniversary and he was feeling lonely. He said a prayer that he would be able to feel comfort and know that she was aware of what was happening. A couple hours later, I had my dance with my dad. At first he didn’t realize what was happening. He then heard my grandma’s voice. In that moment, he felt God’s love and my grandma’s presence. God gave me a prompting weeks before my wedding to play Grandma’s song. I am so thankful that I listened so my grandpa’s prayers could be answered. It really made my wedding night 10 times more special.
Our dance: Tyler and I didn't want to do a normal first dance. We decided to have fun with it, and choreograph our own dance. I think more entertaining for the guests. haha I did forget it halfway through, but that's okay. I think it turned out okay. haha One thing I love about Tyler is how carefree he is, and how willing he is to do different things :)
The Bouquet Toss: McGrath is one of my best friends. Before, I threw my bouquet she told me she wasn't going to catch it. I was super disappointed because McGrath had caught 13 bouquets before this. She ended up catching mine... which basically made the night. Haha
It can be so easy while planning your wedding, to get caught up in how perfect weddings look on Instagram and in magazines. I stressed a lot about making mine "perfect". One day, I had to tell myself to stop and just enjoy the planning and not to stress about the little things. Those things aren't important. It is who you are marrying that is. If you are planning a wedding and find yourself obsessing over every detail, just tell yourself to stop and enjoy every moment. Your day will be amazing. I honestly can't put into words how wonderful our day was. It wasn’t because of the details, it was because of the people that came to support us. So many of our friends and family came from so far to be there and to make our day special. It is a day I will never forget, and I know it is because so many people helped make it that way.
